We are currently offering a range of GSM Packages, including VoIP interconnection equipment.  The equipment included in the packages will enable you to offer a calling card service in your region using mobile access numbers.  It will also enable you to terminate VoIP traffic in your region.

Package Contents
We are offering a 2 Port GSM Package; a 4 Port GSM Package and an 8 Port GSM Package.  Each GSM Package comprises:
  • An analogue GSM gateway for each line for making and receiving calls on a 2G mobile network.
  • A Quintum Tenor AFT FXO gateway
  • Cabling to interconnect the equipment
  • Initial configuration to IPTransit

The GSM gateways are manufactured by ITS-Telecom.  The GSM gateways are unlocked and can be used on mobile networks using the GSM-900 and GSM-1800 frequency bands.  Each GSM gateway has a slot for accepting a small 3V SIM card, which is not included.  The GSM gateways are covered by a manufacturer's warranty and are supplied with moulded UK power supplies.   You will need to install the GSM gateways in a location with a strong mobile network signal to avoid "GSM buzz".

The Quintum Tenor AFT gateways have analogue ports; one for each GSM gateway.   Effectively, it gives the GSM gateways VoIP capability, allowing them to make and receive VoIP calls.  You will need a bandwidth of at least 25kbps in each direction for each line.  The Tenor gateway can be provided with a power supply to match your country.  It is covered by a two year manufacturer's Return To Base warranty.   Optionally, we can arrange ongoing support for this gateway with a Quintum Certified Service Partner at GBP 250 per year.

The GSM gateways and the Tenor VoIP gateway have been tested together and interwork very well.  Audio levels are good, and answer supervision is achieved through polarity reversal on the GSM gateways.  Answer supervision requires that your GSM networks send an answer signal to the GSM gateway, which is the norm.  Alternatively, a voice based answer supervision can be programmed on the Tenor gateway.

Calling Card Application
This package can be used to offer a calling card solution in your region.   Callers would call the mobile telephone numbers associated with your SIM cards.   The calls would be routed to the Quintum gateway, which would prompt them to enter their account number and password.  These accounts would be created using the Reseller Control Panel.  Assuming their account has sufficient credit, they would be prompted to enter their destination number, and the call would be connected through IPTransit.  The voice prompts are locally installed on the Quintum gateway and can be provided in a variety of languages, including English, French and Spanish.

To work in this mode, H.323 signalling must be used, and the Tenor must have access to a unique public IP address.  This IP address can be dynamically allocated by your ISP; you do not need a fixed IP address.  But, you will not be able to use the package in its calling card mode if your ISP allocates you with a private IP address.

You should bear in mind that each SIM card will probably have a different telephone number.  This may be inconvenient for your customers and some form of call forwarding between the mobile numbers may be appropriate.  You should discuss  these capabilities with your local mobile network operator.

Call Termination
It is possible for us to configure our switch to send traffic destined for your region to the Quintum FXO gateway.  The Quintum would then terminate these calls on your local mobile network using the eight GSM gateways.  Normally, the traffic we send would be your own traffic.  That is, calls made by your own customers that you control through the IPTransit reseller programme.  We charge a small per minute fee for providing this service.

If the quality of your route is good and the rates are acceptable, there exists the possibility of selling the route to us for terminating other IPTransit customers' traffic.  If this is enabled, then your IPTransit account would instantly be credited with your per minute termination fee on completion of each call.  But, purchasing this GSM package does not guarantee IPTransit traffic, because we may already have direct routes to your country.
