SIP

We recommend accessing IPTransit using the H.323 protocol. Nevertheless, we support SIP, and this section explains how to access IPTransit using a SIP compliant device.  If you do not yet have a VoIP gateway, please see our recommendations on supported hardware solutions.

The configuration of your dialler depends on whether you have a fixed or dynamic IP address.

Fixed IP Address

  1. Make sure the IP address you use has been added to your IPTransit account.  If you did not add this address while setting up your account, then add this IP address at the Access Methods area of IPTransit the online account management system.
  2. Configure your equipment to send all telephone calls to our SIP server at sip.transcom.net
  3. It is not necessary to register with our SIP server.

Dynamic IP Address

  1. Make sure that your IPTransit account has been configured for dynamic IP addresses.  If you did not do this while setting up your account, then set this option now at the Access Methods area of IPTransit the online account management system.
  2. Configure your equipment to register with our SIP server at sip.Transcom.net  Our server supports Digest authentication.  You should configure your device using your IPTransit account number and password.
  3. These instructions assume that you have exclusive use of the public IP address when your ISP allocate it to you.  If your ISP allocate you with a private IP address, then you need to authenticate on a per-call basis.  Please contact us for more information on setting this up for your account.

The codecs we support are G.723.1 and G.729

You should configure your equipment to send DTMF digits using INFO method SIP messages.

We support fax calls to most worldwide destinations.  To send faxes, your gateway must be T.38 compatible.
